from one 17 year old cooking for his mom to another, i appreciate your posts more than words can convey. i’ve been making chicken noodle soup with your recipe for like 3 straight weeks now its so incredible, i literally have this pot roast going in the oven right now as i type this and i couldn’t be more thankful for these absolutely immaculate meals you’ve helped me create

I have some constructive criticism for u (not tryna hate I promise) if u add the bay leaves in with your fat it brings out more flavor also I would use a higher heat to sear the roast and let it get a nice (almost charred) look to it everything else looks absolutely amazing

Only change I would make is get a good pot roast seasoning, season and completely sear the meat. It’ll add sooo much more flavor! You’re doing amazing by your family

If you ever want to clean the residue that builds up on your pot, you can use barkeepers friend powder and it won’t damage the finish, but it will take off all of the gunk that builds up. I think what you do is amazing and you’ve become a great cook!

Pro chef here. Love how you seasoned the pan instead of the meat. That’s a pro level move! Next time, try leaving the meat in the pan a little longer to develop a crust. Seems like a dumb step, but it adds a ton of flavor. I hope that helps and keep doing what you do. You’ve got a future in food ahead of you if you’re into it!

you didn't sear the meat until it was brown. thats the whole point. the browning is for flavor

Looks good. Sear the roast longer next time for more flavor. No risk of over cooking if you go 4-5 minutes per side

Did you mean to sear the meat? I'm no expert, but I think if you use a higher smoking oil like Avocado, then you'd be able to get the browning/char easier for the meat. A good browning will also leave some bits behind you can saute your onions in, and it'll absorb all that flavor.

So, I would recommend putting a trivet on the glass top stove. Putting a hot, heavy pot down on it could cause it to explode from thermal shock.

Looks great! Just a small tip, if you brown your meat on high heat for a bit longer, it will create a crust due to maillard reaction and you’ll build more fond in the pot which will add wonderful flavor. Keep up the great cooking videos Chef! 💙

I never learned to cook. I’m 51 years old. Sadly I can’t teach my 12year old either. I’m really impressed with your cooking skills.
