He was only pretending to be under her influence while secretly testing whether he could beat Rimuru without turning him into a direct enemy. However, Rimuru misunderstood the situation and believed that Yuuki was innocent simply being manipulated by Mariabell, causing him to see Yuuki as more of a victim than a threat. Because of that misjudgment, Rimuru gave him the benefit of the doubt and let him go, not realizing that Yuuki had been acting according to his own plans and ambitions all along.
