i had surgery when i was 12 and my mom lied to the surgeon about how long it had been since i ate. she was impatient and wanted it over with. guess who aspirated on the table? 😅 i will forever hold a grudge about that bc it was absolutely terrifying.

I was told not to eat/drink after midnight & somehow convinced myself that wasn’t enough time so i had my last meal at 3pm and last sip of water at 3:30pm.

Just a reminder - medical staff are professionals and they’re not doing it to be mean. There’s REAL reasons they tell you to do xyz. When did we stop listening to people who dedicate YEARS to their jobs/specialties?!?

Went to have surgery back in January and my dr asked me “how was breakfast this morning” I said “ I wouldn’t know I didn’t have any” he said “right answer” 🤣

Former surgery scheduler. I would tell them in the office, it's in their paperwork, on the consent form and on the surgery reminder call and they act shocked when surgery is cancelled because it was "just coffee or just a granola bar."

my mom was scheduled for my brother's C-section and the doctor was running late 😅 she was starving so she had a massive Macdonald breakfast. Let's just say my brother was supposed to be born the last week or so of March, and now his birthday is April 1st 😂
