remember you can have an uneducated induction too. dont let the fear of induction make you spiral. I'm a home birth loving holistic girl, and was so against induction but now in high risk delivering at 37. I've becomes so educated on how to advocate for an induction too be slow and effective and manageable. If that's needed you'll be okay.

Are you anemic?? That could cause low platelets too! But if it could help ease your mind at all - my first 2 children were spontaneous births and happened so fast and overall I walked away feeling like 😵💫 my 3rd baby I was induced and it was a slow 24 hour progression from induction to birth (I had high BP). It was SOOOO nice. My husband and I slow danced through the contractions, I was allowed to eat, and her actual birth I was so focused and could breathe through the pain so well. The only thing about being induced was I did get the shakes and threw up once. But it wasn’t too bad. Either way, labor is scary but it will all work out how it is supposed to! Having the support of your husband and doctors will 100% help you get through it. Good luck and congratulations ❤️

I wanted all natural but I had to get induced and everything was fine. I was sad that I had to do it but nothing is better then holding that baby

You can ask your doctor about Prepidil or Cervidil. I unfortunately was allergic to cervidil so it didn’t work for me but it’s a medication that goes into you to ripen the cervix

I also have had low platelets. My doctor has not told me I will need to be induced due to this but that my platelets drop below 75,000 I will not be able to get an epidural and if I were to need a c section I would have to be put under general anesthesia instead of just a spinal. If it gets low enough I will also have to get steroids to help

L&D nurse here, also pregnant. I love that you want to have an unmedicated birth but love even more than your #1 priority is healthy baby and mama. I’ve seen people go unmedicated with low platelets, spontaneous and with inductions but most people I see with low platelets have been induced. I just remind people an induction doesn’t mean you will need help from start to finish but maybe just a jump start. You have options but safety is number one. Talk with your OB about platelet counts and anesthesia. I truly think this is something very important to know and understand to make informed decisions as well. Labor is out of our control but information is the most powerful! You got this. Sending best mama wishes your way!

Three babies, two inductions. I did an epidural with all three BUT the labor pains leading up to the epidural were very different for me induced vs not. I felt that my natural labor pains were far less. And fun fact I learned, you get pitocin after birth to help your uterus contract and reduce bleeding, so you’ll get it either way. At least in my experience.

I have had 2 c sections and they were amazing and I had no issues. Each a different experience but really both went well. It will all work out and doctors should do what’s best for you both

I started showing symptoms of ITP during my last pregnancy. I was induced at 36 weeks. My symptoms got better after delivery. I was down at 13,000. He’s now 19, I was formally diagnosed, and I hover at 55,000 platelets on a normal basis.

I had an unmedicated Pitocin induction with my first baby. The contractions were definitely intense but our bodies are amazing when it comes to doing what needs to be done to deliver our babies.

You can do whatever you put your mind to. I've had 3 babies! 2 were unmedicated. I know you are scared but you've got this. Listen to the doctor and they will keep an eye on your platelets. Be strong I know its scary but again you got this

The biggest thing I can recommend is to have a plan, know exactly what you want, but also no that it may not turn out that way and you have to do what is best for the baby. I ended up having to have an unplanned C-section and quite honestly, I don’t have anything else to compare it to, but I was up the next day running around. It was the best thing ever. My bottom wasn’t sore at all 😂

I don’t have experience with the platelets but I did not want to be induced and ended up having to with my first due to blood pressure and second for other reasons. There is lots of different induction methods and depending on how ready your body is and how it responds to things (with this being your first you won’t know that yet) will be the route to go. Do your research so you don’t feel blind sided by thing when they start asking or talking about what they possibly want to do is my biggest advice to you. I get not wanting pit as again I didn’t want it either but if you have to have it see if they can do a low dose if you start to feel sick you can tell them to turn it off or lower the dose!! I had a induction with no pain meds with both my children first one I did have to have pit and did tell them to turn it off second child no pit both I had them break my water which really got my labor going for both but my second from time water was broken to baby in arms was about 45min to 1 hour. Everyone responds to things differently and have different reasons for what they want to experience so it’s just good to keep in mind your options as birth is never as you plan it but you do want. If you don’t have a doula I’d recommend that as well if your goal really is to go with no pain meds as they can help you and your husband to know how to help you during this process. I had to be induced and I had the best experience. other than having a started medication to be induced that is the only med that I had. it was the best semi medicated. pitocin on a low dose was the only thing I needed. you got this mama!

I don’t have any experience with the platelets issue but I do have experience with getting an induction when I was scared of specifically pitocin. That being said, I knew I was getting the epidural and fully planned on getting it from the beginning. I was still terrified of the pitocin contractions. And, honestly, the induction I handled a million times better than going spontaneous with my first. I don’t know if it’s just because I had already experienced contractions and labor before so I knew what to expect or what but I was hardly being effected by the contractions at like 5 cm and they gave me the epidural because they were about to break my water or else I would have waited longer

I have no idea about the platelets, buttttt I was induced with both of my babies (both because that’s what I wanted) and I had two AMAZING labors. So don’t let everyone scare you into thinking inductions are all bad. 🫶🏼 prayers you get the birth story you want!

My water broke and no labor was starting. I wasn’t even dilated. I got Pitocin and lasted for 16 hours before I got an epidural. i managed the pain for as long as i could. You got this!! I believe you can do whatever you set your mind to do
