Here’s a short story in that style: The Midnight Call It was 2:17 in the morning when YN’s phone started vibrating across the nightstand. Unknown Caller. Half asleep, YN answered anyway. “Hello?” A familiar voice came through the speaker. “YN, where you at?” He sat up immediately. “Who is this?” “You know who this is,” the young ho said with a laugh. “Quit playin’.” YN rubbed his eyes. “Why you callin’ me this late?” “Cause I need you to come ETP.” “Right now?” “Yeah, right now.” YN looked out the window. The streets were empty, and the whole neighborhood was asleep. “You serious?” “Dead serious. Everybody else folded. You the only one I can count on.” Now YN was curious. “What’s goin’ on over there?” “Can’t explain it on the phone. Just pull up.” The call ended before he could ask another question. For a few minutes, YN stared at the ceiling, debating whether it was worth leaving his bed in the middle of the night. Finally, he threw on a hoodie and headed out. When he arrived at ETP, he expected drama, chaos, maybe even trouble. Instead, he found a group of friends sitting around a table covered with snacks, cards, and a brand-new game system. The young ho grinned. “Took you long enough.” YN looked around, confused. “You woke me up for this?” “Yeah,” she said. “We needed one more player.” The whole room burst out laughing. YN shook his head. “You know what?
