the last useful invention was the smartphone. i genuinely think we have peaked in terms of technological convenience for awhile.

Graphene is a new technological discovery thats beginning to have practical applications in batteries antennas and more. Dont be a slave to the algorithm. Proactively search for things that interest you, dont let tiktok or chatgpt decide what your interests are.

I grew up in a small town and one day was selected with a few of my fellow computer-y, dorky-ass classmates to go to the nearby city for a mini tech conference for highschool students. The amount of wonder I felt that day was amazing. It was the first time I ever really felt like I knew what I wanted to do one day. The main subject they talked about sounded so cool. A unifying idea between distinct, but similar technologies to better serve humanity. a method of measuring everything and sharing the data between systems. It was the first day I ever heard their term for it too. "Big Data". They said it like it was the coolest and best thing ever... I think they believed it too. I think that's the problem in the end.

I never recorded anything on VCR, but the concept of TiVo was mind blowing to me. The idea of recording your favorite show and play it at anytime seemed too good to be true.

Touch screen legitimately blew my mind. I remember not understanding the announcement. Touchscreen? But buttons are tactile? How will the screen know? Does it click? It just says an open screen? After we all got so good at t9
