my family still does hope chests. these days its less about "life for marriage" and more about "supplies for your first apartment" so my cousins and I had needed supplies when we finally moved out! I plan on doing the same for my 2 daughters

I received my hope chest at 13! It originally was my great aunts that her husband made for her before their wedding. My mom and I spent years storing away things I would need once I got out on my own.

My mom made me a hope chest but filled it with only little girl dresses. Apparently her only hope for me was to have a baby girl one day. I asked if I could just have the chest at this point and she refused to give it to me till I have a little girl......so I went and bought a hope chest of my own it stores blankets now.

My mother gave me one that was gifted to her by another family member. When they were downsizing. I use it to store my kimono collection, but recently the top has become a catch all for random things around my room. I should probably clean it off 🤷🏻♀️
