Great advice! For adult teeth that you hope can get re-implanted, don’t touch the root (hold the crown), only rinse with milk or saline if contaminants are evident on the root’s surface, and don’t waste ANY time getting to the dentist. If you don’t have milk or saline, keeping it in your cheek until you get the dentist works fine. Every minute matters!

My son knee’d himself in the mouth in bed and broke his tooth at the root at 2.5 dentist removed the tooth and said exactly the same thing. He’s six and still has a gap there

Yes! Exactly what happened to my son! He fell and lost a tooth (we couldn’t find it) went to the dentist to make sure there were no more pieces inside and just waited for the permanent one. It looks perfectly normal now!
