If you are from europe, and interested in visiting the USA, I would totally recommend visiting Shepherdstown West Virginia, specifically the hotel: Quality Inn Shepherdstown, 70 Maddex Square Dr, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. I recommend it because Europeans like to walk and think they can walk America. this place is actuallt walkable if your fit. you get to see as much America as possible within a 1 hour walking distance. you get to see all the different types of American roads, you get to see the super old old brick city, the modern housing developments, the classic 1960s housing developments, the old style infrastructure, the modern style suburban infrastructure. You are still technically located in the Appalachian mountains so it's not full total crazy mountains, you get the perfect mix of the flat parts of the USA and the mountainous parts in one. you get the best of both. You are located at the furthest part north of the cultural south, so it's the perfect mix of Southern and northern, it's at an extremely strange cultural center point where the very end of each culture meets at this point. The weather is also more like Europe here and it's not as blazing hot as other parts of the USA. Another thing to note, you don't actually have to walk on the road, you can literally just cut through the woods. But everything is at walking distance and you can experience a LOT of America because everything is in a 1.5 hour walking distance max.
