When I’m in the crowd at a festival surrounded with my best friends, and smiling strangers, and we’re all dancing and wearing sparkles, and the music is 10/10…. There is no feeling comparable on planet earth. I feel the most human when I’m dancing with strangers.

100% AUDHD + CPSTD Tiesto at Red Rocks in 2024 started my healing journey. A year and a half later I’m now a completely different person.

Just took my wife to her first EDC festival and she cried on her first day. She said the clarity and happiness she felt was such a beautiful experience and wants to keep that feeling! Her stress has decreased since then. 🥹🥹

But it also screwed me up too lol. I was doing this back in 09’-2011 and it caused horrible depression when I stopped. I did however have a blast!

I’ve never felt so alive and so at peace as when I did when I was raving in the 90’s. They were some of the best years of my life.

it’s so freeing. being able to act like myself. dance how i feel. bond with strangers. completely makes me feel like there is hope still. it reduces my anxiety and self consciousness.

Interesting…your words make sense to me! Went to raves in 90’s, childhood was not good. Raves were best memories of my life.

Growing up gay in the 90s in rural NY you created an alternate life what people expected of you and never truly discovered who you were in your teens. I am now 42 and career, home, partner and discovering parts of me I forgot. EDC Orlando 2025 was my first festival and I decided to microdose with friends, Tiesto came out, I have been a fan since my teens. I swear to my friends that I saw teenage me standing next to me and we hugged, almost like I said "I'm sorry" and he said back "but look how far you've come, keep finding the boy you were" and it was beautiful. Just as quick as the moment came, I snapped back into the moment in front of me with tens of thousands singing and dancing with tears running down my face and I haven't been the same since, I've felt a little more grounded, noticing things more, things that when I was a teen I loved. I spent the past winter skiing, I haven't done that in 20+ years. it healed a part of me. Went to Beyond Wonderland in Chicago just last week, and a similar experience a little more healing - counting down to Lost lands. It is beautiful.
