This is actually incorrect. The Flake meta has discovered that the optimal strategy for maximum dissatisfaction among the friends is to text your friends when you're 30 minutes late and say you're stuck in traffic. And then after another 15 to 30 minutes you then say you can't go. This will maximize irritation and drastically reduce the probability that you'll be invited back. Hope this helps!
