I do think its worth noting that there are still enterprise subscription plans that rate limited but are fast and predictable. if everything switched to the api based metering, even then there will be a push to drive the cost down with diffusion models, mtp, open source etc. same thing happened with cloud. the bubble bursting wont be as big as people expect especially since llms are actually showing value now
