genuinely how is the stranglehold on the grocery market foodstuffs has not a monopoly? if no one else can open a grocery store? all over the world there's all sorts of groceries with different strategies yet in New Zealand all grocery stores are functionally the same except pakinsave because you pack your own groceries?

There is an Asian grocery store near me with an awesome Asian butcher next door selling awesome fresh high quality meats at literally half the price . I shop there regularly

I nomally shop at WestField PAK’nSAVE for meat. But all spices I go to Serandib Sri Lankan specialty shop, then everything else at Chinese supermarket followed by $shops for any other trivial household items. $20 for a nail cutter at a woolies is a crime 🤡

Asian markets are more diverse, better quality, and also… has the necessary ingredients to make Asian food that many foreigners romanticize and fetishize about. Like seriously, who would choose something like beans over tonkatsu or tempura udon ?? Sometimes it not about the concept, it’s about the contents.
