@relationalalchemy: Shame tells you that if you can just figure out what’s wrong with you, you’ll finally be worthy of love. So you think. And analyze. And replay. And search for the answer. But shame isn’t a puzzle. It’s a state your nervous system gets trapped inside. The way through isn’t finding better evidence. It’s experiencing something your system didn’t know was possible: That you can be seen. That you can feel what you feel. That you can still belong. That you are not bad. Not because you proved it. Because you experienced it. #shame #HealingJourney #nervoussystem #attachmenthealing #selfworth

What about the teaching of naming your shame to bring it out of shadow?

Hear me out yall. Shame is actually a gift. Use it as a signal or warning of something you have to work on as far as self improvement.

How do you do this with hypervigilance. I try and feel and accept then i see the people’s faces around me while I am trying to love and accept those parts, it’s newer for them to see it. Their reactions or my sensitivity to it to be fair, scares me back into non acceptance

So relatable. I feel shame really often. From the small stuff to the big stuff. I never had parents who apologized so I never learned to apologize and so when I do something wrong (who cares, we all do) I get stuck in the explaining myself because I feel shame. Instead of saying, “yeah, that’s my bad” and moving on. The more I fight it, the more shame I feel. Then, I do that trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.

Is that dorsal vegal thing the same thing as “learned helplessness” with the dog experiment with the electrified floor?
