In music theory this is called a half cadence. The V7 chord leads to the I chord, but if you end on the V7 the listener will expect a chord that never comes.

I feel the same about begged. I found the ending of the chorus to be incomplete ending with the word "begged" which contradicts the other verbs in the chorus as it is the only one in past tense. I realized that this was probably intentional and gives a feeling of emptiness in how Olivia feels like she has merely been "begging" throughout the relationship and feeling that something is missing in it
