My dog just finished heart worm treatment. She was diagnosed positive and it took 5 months to complete treatment. It’s extremely important to use a heart worm prevention medication.

I do not believe in heartworm preventer. Too many chemical caps. Just limit the time your dog is outside in hot humidity d weather. Especially in the late night and early morning when they are more active. Also heard geranium oil keeps them away from plus many plants to plant to keep them away from it has worked for me and my dogs for many years!!!!

Does this disease show in bl00d count? I am not in the states but I live in a country with several mosquito. My 5 year old has Been bitten before but I have never tested her, nor my veterinarian ever ever suggested this test I give her this medicine Credelio plus where it says it prevents heartworm. Is this a good alternative?

Use Cardotek/Heartgard (regular, not Plus version), it’s just Ivermectin and great at heartworm prevention.

One of my 7 years old dog who has CKD has been tested positive for heartworm but microfilaria wasn't visible,she had no symptoms.She also has anemia for which the vet was giving Vintor injection and they decided to treat her heartworm when she was still receiving the injection.They gave doxycycline to which she reacted badly vomiting every time she took it and a spot on which her reaction was worse as she vomited and was lethargic for 2 days.Now I don't know how she should be treated for heartworm.Her CKD is managed as she is eating well and very active.

Should your dog come up positive for HW, consider forgoing the toxic imiticide treatment. Its a arsonagenic chemotherapy type agent. Fast kill is not always best kill. Consider Moxi-Doxi treatment. 2x a month topical of Advantage Multi for a year....no restrictions in exercise, not painful, no crate rest after the fast kill method...it works and is a fraction of the cost. this was discovered through rescues in Louisiana by accident when HW + dogs were coming up neg after 10 months. so a study was done and proven 💯effective against both male and female....while the toxic treatment was only 98% against female's
