Pastor, if I have to work on Sunday and cannot go to church, have I sinned against God? Doesn’t the Bible require us to keep the Sabbath? Do you remember what the Lord Jesus taught about the Sabbath? One day, Jesus and His disciples were passing through the grainfields. Because they were hungry, the disciples picked some heads of grain and ate them. When the Pharisees saw this, they criticized them, believing that they had broken the rules of the Sabbath. But the Lord Jesus answered: “The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.”Mark 2:27 (KJV) The Sabbath was a gift from God. It was given so people could rest, draw near to God, and be renewed. It was not meant to make people live under guilt and burdens. So, if you cannot go to church because of necessary work, it does not mean you do not fear God. What we truly need to examine is not whether we work on Sunday, but whether our hearts are still turned toward God. Some people go to church every week, yet their hearts are far from God. Others cannot attend gatherings because of work, but they pray every day, read God’s Word, and strive to follow His teachings in their daily lives. The Lord Jesus said: “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” Matthew 15:8 (KJV) What God cares about is not your schedule, but whether He has the first place in your life. Even while you are working, you can still pray to God, use your break time to read His Word, and entrust your daily life into His hands. Of course, gathering together is also important. If we have the opportunity, but because of laziness or spiritual coldness, we refuse to gather with other believers for a long time, then we should examine our hearts. But if you truly cannot attend worship because of work or responsibilities, do not allow human rules to keep you living in guilt. Today, do not only ask: “Is it a sin for me to work on Sunday?” Ask yourself: “Wherever I am, is God still first in my life?” If this message helped you, write: “Lord, You are first in my life.” Also share it with those who feel guilty because they have to work on Sundays. If you want to understand the Bible more deeply, learn how to draw near to God in a busy life, and follow His will, you are welcome to join our online Bible study group. You can click the link in my profile, or contact us through the WhatsApp number shown on the screen. May God guide you to live in His presence every day. #bible #christian #prayer #fyp #amen🙏
