I might have to take a break, because now I'm working character and speaking frankly with people, and it's not a good idea to be direct. But that's why most people choose a doctor or nurse of their origin of their nationality because of the language thing, most lawyers get clients that speak Spanish, because they speak Spanish most Doctors get clients that speak Arabic because they speak Arabic, and that's how business models have changed of sorts, the only people that are winning are the nurses at hospitals because they don't advertise for patients. You don't see the nurses here on TikTok saying, Hey, come into x hospital and we're going to take good care of you instead, they're saying I wish a patient would, but the point is, is that people are navigating To businesses that speak their language and look like them, and that's the truth.If you want , I can provide video , but they'll probably get taken down just like they did on x

Question regarding charting: I provide services in English and Spanish- do I need to clarify in my notes that the visit was done in Spanish if I have a Spanish speaking patient???

So does the interpreter get held accountable if the patient didnt understand the risk? We use a interpreter service and occasionally I get an interpreter that my gut tells me is not translating the entire conversation. And twice I have had family members who speak English well confirm this, but had they not been in the room I wouldhave zero proof.

The best question is, how am I going to ensure I'm communicating correctly with this patient? I'm an immigrant learning the language of my new country and work in medical malpractice. This issue comes up for me because I am married to a licensed medical interpreter and we STILL have had moments where I've corrected things because I've recognized misinterpreted items.

As a daughter who has had to translate it’s sad some facilities don’t have translators. There have been times when I don’t know how to translate what the doctor is saying. I try my best. As I’m sure many daughters/sons do. I really wish translating services was a must.

As someone who is Deaf, so often when the answer is “yes” , they tell me they suddenly aren’t accepting new patients anymore. Incredibly frustrating. And worse for anywhere with ongoing care like therapy.

Question. Does this apply to ASL interpreters as well since we fall under the ADA? We have always been told that an interpreter is to be provided to the client by law (not that they always are, in fact many clients are just ignored & not scheduled in order to not have to deal with it.. but that’s a different thing) BUT I’ve never heard from the law side only the terp side.

Follow up question what if a patient comes in for an initial visit and is either blind or speak a language that is not consistent with the paperwork available to sign consents for billing and medical records, etc. what is the recommendation in terms of whether that patient is allowed to present or does the patient need to bring somebody with them or does there need to be some sort of interpretive access available for the reading of what are even in English pretty significantly complex document documents
