@forsterandfells: Heron Pike (612m) is one of the ends of the famous Fairfield Horseshoe. This was the Wainwright we were bagging today but we unexpectedly got caught in a snowstorm - that's the Lakes for ya! Anyways, instead of doing a classic up and out trail to Heron Pike - how about trying this loop that takes you up Nab Scar (455m) to Heron Pike and then down the side of the fell to our new favourite hidden gem - Alcock Tarn!
