I once told my father this when I was 17 years old, he wasn't present but was supporting through the system. I told him that I'm glad he wasn't present in my life, not because he would suck at it or anything...but that maybe I wouldn't turn out like I did. Growing up like that taught me honor, integrity and promise of my word. I didn't understand much about what I told him that day, that I don't blame him for anything and that if I were in his shoes I would had probably done the same exact thing or much worse than he did. Because I understood that I wasn't less or more because he wasn't in my life but I was exactly what GOD INTENDED and HE used my father to force me into that version that GOD HIMSELF WANTED. That maybe had I grown up with my dad present, I would've resented him and not seen his importance in my life but now I do. It takes real honest heart to be honest to itself before anybody else can.
