Hi! I’m a specialty pharmacist that works with Dupixent every day. I don’t want to assume but it sounds like the insurance doesn’t want to cover it because they have another preferred specialty medication for eczema (this is usually the case). His doctor can submit an appeal to the insurance to cover the medication. If the appeal is denied, the prior authorization and appeal denials can be submitted to the manufacturer of Dupixent to get the medication for free. I’m so sorry you have to go through all of this! It is incredibly frustrating! It’s what I do to help my patients every day and I wish you had someone to help you through these steps.

I live in SC and have BCBS and my dupixent is covered. (I take four shots a month). My doctor said he was able to get it approved because it was necessary for my EOE.m and I also have a My Dupixent card. Sharing incase that can be helpful or your doctor can somehow change wording to help!!

Pharmacist here! Find out if you need a prior authorization. With most specialty meds they require documentation from the provider that states he failed X amount of medications in order to get them to pay!!

I’m sorry but the dermatology office should be doing a prior authorization for you to get this covered?! I’m confused my office has to do this for every single specialty medication

Does the $4000 go towards your deductible?

I’ve had bad eczema my whole life I found out I have celiac disease and I’m now gluten free and have very minimal flare ups. Could it be something diet related? 😭 wishing you guys good luck that’s so frustrating

Hey! Nurse local to you who works everyday getting my patients approved for dupixent assistance everyday. Are you enrolled in dupixent my way and has a PA been done through BCBS with an appeal and letter of necessity from his provider?

As someone who’s been on dupixent for 2 years.. It’s the most frustrating and discouraging thing I have to go through once a month in order to order my medication.

Sadly this is the medical field… Tell the dr office to do a prior authorization for dupixent , they need to tell the insurance you have tried and failed all other formulary and name them & that the dupixent has been helpful & pt is stable on it and why he needs it

I’m not sure it’s on there, but look into GoodRX if you haven’t! It’s mark Cuban’s company that’s essentially not for profit - meaning they don’t jack up the cost of medications

Did you get the mydupixent card? We have 2 children on the shot and it’s all paid for. You can do it online and it’s for the year!

If they don’t approve you to have it for free, which is what happened with me sign up for the duplicate discount card because it discounts your medication and I saved a ton. I mean I was paying I believe like 300 a month for myself which is a lot better than 4000 just to survive, which is outrageous but still.
