I’m a double leg amputee and I agree I too thought I’d get my prosthetic legs and it be like new shoes get a blister no big deal keep pushing. Nope nothing like that. I just had my 10 year ampversary but only 5 years since I became shorter again from bone spurs 🤦‍♀️I do promise you that you will get there. I’m now living a very active lifestyle wearing 2 prosthetic legs. I even grew taller then I was with meat feet 👣 I’m a new follower from northern Ontario Canada

i had the same experience, i thought to get my prosthetic would be the end of all problems but it was the start of the journey, some days are painful some others are grateful, the patience is the key, you will need months or year, i know how much it's hard to think about the futur when the pain take this much place but it will pass, believe in you and in time 🫂

I’m not an amputee but I work for a company who makes prosthetics. Only advice I can give is only wear it 1h in the morning and 1h in the afternoon, and gradually expand. And talk with your CPO!! Best of luck ❤️

To ostrich lover - You are loved and we are proud of you for taking this one day at a time so gracefully. Especially appreciate you sharing the things that might not feel so great. You are helping people who need to hear it.

As a prosthetist, I agree with your prosthetist! Your residual limb is still VERY fresh but will adjust! But you’re in your very first prosthesis and you’re doing great!

More socks, as it matures it will shrink and will need a new socket. More socks will put less pressure on the stump. I didn’t get a prosthetic until 9 months in for proper healing. An iwalk off Amazon is great for bad days to keep you off the leg.

heyyyy 🦿 from another amputee; I know it’s sooo frustrating at first when you just wanna go, walk and be active but it takes time. When your socket is good fit for you, it’ll hurt less and step by step it’ll get better❣️I’m cheering for you!

I’m 4 years in, amputation is so exhausting. It takes time, don’t push yourself and be kind to yourself on days where it’s harder

It does take a while to settle. If you get a sore, it’s best to leave it off for a day or so if possible and you will gradually learn to manage it. You are doing so well but accept you will have some bad days.

First time seeing you on my FYP! Just want to tell you that you seem pretty amazing. You have a strong spirit. It's okay to be discouraged, just take the time you need and get back to it!

Had the same when I got my first leg I thought I was just gonna get up and walk. It didn’t happen like that now it’s been four months and I still have to use a walker because I’m not steady enough.

I feel you. When I got my first leg I thought I would be able to do anything. It’s not easy, but it gets easier. On my second leg and just about 7 months post-op. You can do this!! Listen to your body and if you’re in pain- stop and rest!
