Maybe they change the future of the internet. Maybe they change transportation. Maybe they make space travel normal. Who knows. My concern isn't whether SpaceX is an amazing company. My concern is that everyone suddenly seems excited to buy it now that it's worth $2 trillion. Because investing isn't just about buying great companies. It's about not overpaying for them. The people who made life-changing money on SpaceX didn't buy it this week. And that's the part I think a lot of investors miss. The easiest money is usually made before everyone is talking about it. That's why I spend way more time thinking about valuations, expectations, and risk than I do chasing whatever stock is making headlines.
