@rohin.reads: I think it’s rather fun to get lost sometimes. Makes for good reading, too. When characters navigate unfamiliar land perfectly, there’s a whole dimension of the book that goes to waste #fantasybooks #worldbuilding #historicalfiction #rangersapprentice #BookTok

The navigator of the Endurance, which was crushed by Antarctica ice in 1912, pegged the location of the wreck within like 100 feet of where it would eventually be found 100 years later. Some people had skills we couldn’t fathom today.

I feel like it can be done wall but only if it serves the story. Like in a narrative driven story where things like traveling aren’t as prioritized it wouldn’t help the narratice

this is one of the great parts of the Witcher series. There is a whole book dedicated to the arduous trek from one plot location to the next halfway across the continent. They get lost, find a place that doesn't exist anymore, find a fortress where they thought a road was, have to strategize to avoid brigands and armies as they were in a warzone, and the whole time avoid monsters. Felt like a DND campaign travel session. I loved it.

ALL of my characters go wayyy off their original quest locations, I'm so excited to add navigational elements to the story

I feel like I have a god excuse for my maps. Most maps come from Athens (god blessed city) with many routes going through it and divine assistance they have mapped out the world
