I never understand why people think dogs just get along with a new puppy in their home. Even the most neutral well adjusted dog may take issue with it. Play pens and baby gates have always been my go to when getting my dogs used to another dogs presence in their home without crossing anybody’s boundaries.

We have an eight year-old Chesapeake Bay retriever, which we lost her sister two years ago a year ago we bought another chessie puppy and when she first came in to her first heat cycle, Lily, our older dog started getting towards Lucy the younger one now out of nowhere she will attack Lucy if Lucy gets close to me or he’s doing something she doesn’t think she should be doing. There are times when it seems like she’s trying to kill her. The last time which was a couple weeks ago, I was laying on my bed on a Sunday morning, watching movies with the girls giving them cookies and out of nowhere. Lily attacked Lucy and actually punctured her upper right leg. We have worked with trainers and we are at a loss. We don’t know what to do. Can you help us?

yea my girl is like this with pups and pushy dogs as well. espesialy un neutered males 😭. too many people bring their yough pups to off leash areas for dogs. my WILL bite if your dog doesnt stop. and most owners I have met dont understand this n just assume my dogs aggresive. she does super well with older and more calm dogs. so when I see a pup approach I always make sure to leash her n take her away from the place.

The older dog is correcting the puppy because the owner isn't. I don't subscribe to alpha theory training but when you get a puppy it's your job to teach them to respect the other household members. Especially when you have other dogs or small kids.
