I personally disagree, I just don’t understand how Kris can be better written with no dialogue. I mean he can be a more enjoyable character to you, but he objectively doesn’t have better writing because there’s none to even look. Disco Elysium, I can’t even fathom how someone wrote that game because of how can’t even put it into words. But hey, people have opinions and I don’t agree but I respect yours.

Kris is pretty well written for what they are, but suffers greatly from the fact that the things that actually isolate Kris (weird route, egg rooms) are more of a meta-commentary. The final egg room literally has toby's infamous dog lurking around and messing with us. And the weird route comes hand in hand with Noelle's experience breaking games and the mantle minigames, where we proceed by breaking the game over and over. This makes a lot of the things we discover about Kris feel somewhat stiff without the year-long pauses some deltarune fans have has to analyse the game thoroughly. I love toby's meta commentary, I love how his music and passion can still draw me in every single time despite my criticisms for each chapter, but not the character writing. And while Kris is definitely a unique take, I don't think they live to such heights, specially when the deeper parts of Kris's character have to rely on mere assumptions and not just reading the subtext.

for reccomendations, i highly suggest you try out "Slay The Princess". without spoilers, i'll say the themes are very overt and well done. it has a very nice art style, and it is a choice-based visual novel (best one i've ever played imo). the community itself is mostly chill, with a large amount of people being quite literate, and a large amount of analysis videos on the game. and just because the name, and style of gameplay appear simplistic this game will present things that are incredibly thought provoking and explores in a multitude of directions
