I’m so sorry. The emotional burden of loving someone with uncontrolled mental illness is something you can only understand if you’ve lived it. The terror of not knowing which version of them you will get. There is no right or wrong, you did the very best you could with an impossible situation. She is at peace now and from the way it sounds like she loved you, I know she would want you to find solace.

Couldn’t relate more. Before my dad passed he would call me for money all the time I told him to stop calling me. He died maybe a couple months later. I would give anything to see and hear him calling again 😞

it was said as a half joke, but rupaul once said “if you’re not selfish what are you, them ish?”. selfishness is usually seen as a bad thing, but in this case, you were protecting your peace number one, and you were pregnant.. and stress + pregnancy is known to have negative effects… you were protecting yourself and your baby. I’m sorry your feeling this way, it’s probably so much more complicated than any of us can understand. we are only human, no one is perfect. hugs stranger

My son’s dad was diagnosed with chronic paranoid schizophrenia in 2023. I don’t allow him to have contact with our son because he’s so unpredictable and won’t take his meds regularly.
