I'm under the impression that the "God Most High" is a reference to the Canaanite God El. El had a cohort goddess named Asherah and many sons including Yahweh. Yahweh inherited the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah.

Not only the word Sons is plural but the word God was originally plural (Elohim). The word Son means Hominid Species. God represents Time. Sons of Gods (Elohim) or Son of God (Yahweh) refers to naturally evolved homind species (Dawrwinian evolution). "They were here before and after.." Before and after what? If you think it's the Flood you are only half right because you're probably thinking it's Noah's flood but it's not. There's an earlier flood discreetly hidden in Genesis chapter 2 verse 5 and 6. Those verses describe the earth as being devoid of life and all of the ground is covered with water. This describes the aftermath of a flood without using the word Flood. Yahweh comes into the story after the Flood and creates the first Man on a dead and drowned earth. In chapter 1 the last thing the Elohim creates is all of Man Kind. In chapter two Yahweh starts creating with the First Man. Earth and water already existed. Yahweh is recreating the life that was destroyed. But who, what and how many are the Elohim? To answer this we have to look at the Enuma Elish, a much older creation myth. we only need to look at the first three words.. When On High. When On High means A Long Time Ago. The word High means Time but it is a vertically aligned word. We use the word Long. This means that the perception of time was vertical. To describe an Ice Age in the one would have said Ice Giant. This is where mythical Giants come from. They were giant periods of time, not giant homind Gods. The vertical perception of time changed to a horizontal perception and it was forgotten that Gods and Giants were words for Time. Stories of Gods and Giants as Devine hominds and evolved into religions. It was forgotten that the Greek 12 Titans were the 12 geological ages and the war between the Olympian Gods (earth) and Titans was the story of earth's 4.9 billion years of evolution. As the 12 Titans represent 12 periods of Time so do the biblical 6 Days and 6 Evenings (12 periods of Time). The Elohim are the 12 Gods of the 6 Days and 6 Evenings. Prometheus was the Son of a Titan but not one of the 12. Prometheus is the current Holocene Age. Yahweh is the God of the 7th Day, the current
