@rhysknowsball: Did the World Cup solve diving? USA 4-1 Paraguay today showed the first time a new VAR rule was used, and its actually a good change. Whe Almiron dived, the ref gave Tim Ream a yellow card and a free kick to Paraguay. But VAR then stepped in with the new “mistaken identity” rule, allowing the ref to overturn the decison. Is this the end of diving in football?
one of mexicos yellow cards yesterday was exactly like this yet they didn’t remove it lmao

Hockey fans have been begging for this in sports for years. In hockey if you flop, you get the penalty for embellishment. It’s rare these days but that’s because guys don’t flop because there’s absolutely zero advantage to doing so.

If the refs are going to start punishing floppers I’ll start to watch.

See I’m fine with the yellow going to Paraguay butttt it was done after the ball was played and he stoped the game and gave the free kick to USA which I think tell me if I’m wrong not allowed bucause play already resumed.?

it was mistaken identity because they did not know ow the identity of the person at fault.

No he wanted to give it to the American but it seems like this is a anti flopping rule(I know no rules about soccer I can’t even tell the refs apart from the players)
