💔 She looked straight into the camera at one point, and it absolutely shattered me. For just a second, Hera locks eyes with my friend Kelley with those beautiful brown eyes. Then another dog barks. Her head snaps around. Her eyes dart frantically across the room. She trembles so hard her entire body shakes. This sweet girl is absolutely petrified. Hera originally showed up as a stray back in December. After she gave birth to puppies on the finder’s property in February, they tried to keep her... but Hera lived outside with their dogs 24/7, and unfortunately there were ongoing conflicts with the resident dogs. You can still see some of the marks she carries from getting beaten up on. Now she’s lost that home too. Surrendered with her 4 remaining puppies… Watching this video is heartbreaking because you can literally see the panic in her eyes. She pancakes herself against the floor, freezes when dogs bark, and looks completely traumatized. And yet despite how terrified she is, she’s still sweet. The one small comfort is that the shelter has now moved her 4 puppies into her kennel with her. Unfortunately, the kennel is extremely tiny, but at least this scared mama isn’t completely alone anymore…? Hera has spent most of her recent life outdoors. She isn’t house trained yet. She hasn’t had stability, guidance, or security. What she needs now is someone willing to show her what it feels like to finally be safe. Not chained outside. Not surviving. Not bouncing from place to place.
