@Anmah Grayy:Many people believe the sea has turned into stone, but that is not actually what has happened.
What you are seeing is most likely a pumice raft—a large floating blanket of volcanic rock formed by an underwater volcanic eruption. When a volcano erupts beneath the ocean, it releases hot magma filled with trapped gases. As the magma comes into contact with cold seawater, it cools and hardens very quickly, trapping millions of tiny air bubbles inside the rock.
This creates a lightweight volcanic rock called pumice. Because it contains so many air pockets, pumice is lighter than water and can float on the ocean's surface. When large amounts are produced, they gather together and can cover vast areas of the sea, making it appear as though the ocean has turned into land or stone.
However, this is not permanent. Over time, waves, ocean currents, and storms will break the pumice apart. Water will gradually fill the air pockets, causing some pieces to sink while others drift ashore. Eventually, the floating pumice raft will disappear and become part of the natural environment.
This is not seawater turning into rock, but a fascinating natural phenomenon created by volcanic activity beneath the ocean, another example of how science helps us understand what is really happening in nature.
