That is not true.I went to uni in 1988..So why say the opportunity was not there.Just say it wasn't there for you.And alot of us have private pensions that will comfortably top up our state pensions regardless of the tax.And most mortage free at this point. And my young adult kids have followed suit by example. So when posting, you need to talk on your own experience and not for everyone growing up in the 80s and 90s.Not accurate at all.

l totally agree, after working 38 years l took early retirement after covid. I'm 57 so, don't qualify for the state pension for another 10 years. My company pension gets taxed, I'm actually worse off than someone who’s never worked as l need to pay for glasses and dentist etc l always worried when they put the retirement age up as most people l know either cut their hours or retire on a small private pension. They need to bring the retirement age down workers are being exploited, and make those who've hardly or never worked get a job or stop their benefits.

started work in 1981, still working now at 62, paid record mortgage interest rates in the 90s, brought up 2 kids while working. Never relied on the state, now its our turn they keep moving the goalposts. No way could I have stayed in my job to 67, so I left and have set up my own business

You're so right. My husband left me when I was 48 to look after a sick four year old on my own. I couldn't afford to save money.

You don’t get taxed again. The money you put into your work pension was tax free.

I've had to retire at 58 after being made redundant, I can't get another job at all. Luckily I have a pertained pension which I get taxed heavily on of I use any of it which is just so unfair, we've worked for that money, it's ours, we've already been taxed on it, why can't we have it when we need it without getting taxed heavily again on it???? 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Left school in 84 highest youth unemployment, I agree wasn’t many jobs around, but university was available for those who wanted to follow that path, but also remember our generation benefited from the housing boom, compared to today housing was reasonably affordable and we saw huge jumps in value
