agreed. i still go to pride, masked, and force myself to have fun, in part to show others it can be done. and should be done. but i am heartbroken every time. the grief is so heavy. 💔

I took my little one to their first pride parade this year. My whole family wore masks. We never stopped. My little one doesn't understand why no one else wears one.

I also wish people would wear masks. I feel similarly about ME awareness events, where no one wears masks 🫠 As someone with ME, I would not feel safe there even if I could go. I know my comment is kind of unrelated, but whether it’s queer or disability events, I’m just frustrated that we can’t even be safe in our own communities.

i remember summer 2023 wearing a mask at the nyc drag march, seeing barely anyone masked, it just made me so, so sad. all the "joy" just vanished for me in that space at all. super depressing.

I went to a queer rave last night and i was the only one masked. there was one other masked person but they found it hard to dance so took it off. it's hard but I also feel like showing up as someone who has more risk tolerance with a mask one helps make it more visible.

went to a punk show recently and some tables were wearings masks and a couple people were wearing a mask but everyone was nice to me, there was 1 visibly disabled person people made space for, but i wish these spaces were more open

yes the lack of covid awareness and accommodation within how pride is conducted is such a problem!!! regarding the bi discourse, (im nb and bi for reference) im way more exhausted by people taking so much time to get annoyed at those cis white bi women than i am at their insecurity. yes they are just insecure and there are bigger issues, so imo we shouldn't make it even bigger by acting like they are the thing everyone else has to point at and talk about. we do this shit EVERY YEAR please 😭
