nah fr the last mercury fest they were looking for volunteers to do so many things, and i felt confused cuz they likely earn a lot from the vendor fees minus cost so it's like??

Thts just how the world work lor. When businesses see an opportunity, they often try to make the most of it, just like many large companies aim to maximise profits. As for the helpers being paid $2, they likely knew the compensation beforehand and still chose to participate, so it seems to be a mutually agreed arrangement between both parties. Willing buyer willing seller mah.

Omg thank you for speaking out on this! As someone who has attended for years and almost applied for their “job openings”, I’m actually very disappointed and betrayed that this is how the organisers actually are, as much as I love how MF has conveniently brought artists together, I really hope your message spreads and people start boycotting them so that we can promote more ethical events😔🥹🙏🏻
