@theslowai: A new legal report warns that doctors and the NHS could be sued for mistakes made by the AI tools they are being told to use. As reported by the BMJ (9 June 2026), the liability for a wrong AI-assisted diagnosis falls on the clinician, while the company that built and sold the system does not carry the same risk. The upside sits with the vendor, the downside follows the professional, and the patient is left trusting a chain of accountability nobody has properly settled. Before your next appointment is shaped by an AI tool, it is worth asking a simple question: when it gets something wrong, who actually answers for it. Isn't it still the Dr's responsibility to check that the notes have been correctly transcribed? They have to ensure anything they write themselves is correct, so how is this any different? Don't get me wrong, I detest AI but this seems like a Dr should be checking the tool in the same way they would check their own notes.

Then I am a test case. I have filed a formal complaint to the PHSO over the NHS making a grave clinical error (twice) in denying me access to vital treatment based on a repeated error made by AI which is now under investigation with the ombudsman.

Good, we need doctors to be sued more often, so they can stop with the medical gaslighting and waffling about. Too many patients suffer, and yes, I do understand that the NHS is stretched, but helthcare professionals need to be more rigurous in their work.

All doctors should be in absolute uproar and demand limits on this technology.
