![Machi, St Kilda! 4.5/5 [INVITE] 🐟 Tempura Nori tacos: uni & lobster 🦀 Spanner Crab Tartare 🐠 Cured Kingfish ❤️🔥 Bone Marrow Kimchi Rice 💖 Dry aged smoked duck Machi is a Japanese inspired restaurant located in St Kilda which has been around since 2012! Their open style kitchen is split into a hot and cold section. This means you’ll be able to experience incredibly fresh seafood and homey and heartwarming mains! The biggest highlight for me of the meal was bone marrow kimchi rice which was exceptional!!! My friend and I agreed that we could just eat a whole bowl of this ourselves! It was rich, perfectly balanced and had so much umami. Honestly it was my first time having bone marrow and I was a little nervous but far out- they nailed this combination! We also LOVEEED the fresh spanner crab tartare with house made whipped prawn butter (HEAVEN) and also house made koji flatbread! The duck was also exceptional as it’s marinated in miso for 2 days and then dry aged for 10-14 days and smoked with spiced apple wood chips 🤯! Ok also the kingfish was amazing! The only tiny improvement could be a bit more crispiness on the skin of the duck but the duck itself was so perfectly smoked and cooked that we both did not mind!! The dishes themselves are definitely on the pricier end but the fact that everything is house made with such love, I honestly think it is completely worth it!
