Sounds exhausting… I was just direct with my child and she’s great.

how can they make their voice match mine when I scream much louder? I think it sets unrealistic expectations

this works well when the child is at the right comprehension level...as a paediatric salt I see parents giving overly worded statements to children that simply go completely over their heads and trigger more dysregulation...I agree with this approach but the solutions do not consider language development norms consistently

I was told to cut out all the waffle and be direct for the child to process what I’ve said. Less words, more action and time to process it works

as a millennial, I was raised with honesty and you know what, it didnt harm me or my siblings in anyway. I'm not 100% that gentle parenting is the way forward. my kids never listen to my gentle parenting 😂

Work in a school, that will most certainly teach you how to talk to children.

The only thing is if you say “feet on the floor please” rather than “don’t climb on the table” how do they learn that climbing on the table is dangerous? Surely it’s better to tell them not to and explain why x

I wonder if this would be helpful for my 9 year old daughter, she gets easily overwhelmed and over stimulated daily, we are in the process of an ASD/ADHD/PDA referral/assessment but I feel this book might be helpful x im going to look into it further glad this came up on my feed x
