I stayed at hotel royal classic Osaka (namba) last year bc the location was great and it’s connected to a 24 hr conbini & the namba station. It’s also about 5 min walking distance from dotonbori. Felt safe to me and the hotel was incredible. Had no idea namba was considered unsafe, the only time I felt sketched out was actually walking around Shinjuku when some dude tried getting me to go with him to meet a girl lol

Stayed at toyoko inn namba, and it was right in front of the stairs to the train station. It was so close to everything, we could shop and drop our things in the room first before dinner. Didn’t feel like it was unsafe at all.

The only parts of the Osaka metro that ARE potentially dangerous (and not even close by Euro-American standards) is parts of Namiwa (and that’s even changing) and Amagasaki. Namba is just seedy, it’s fine. Dotonbori is just seedy, it’s fine.

i stayed near dotonbori and had the time of my life!!! yeah its not that clean compared to other parts of osaka but it was still a blast. tons of restaurants bars and clubs around
