A lot of people would say family. We break it down into “go years” and “stay years” when we’re old and can’t move and want to hang out with family. Will most definitely not be staying in America during the go years tho

as a mid 40s guy thinking about retiring, with several colleagues who have, it often has to do with the location of kids and grand kids, friends, and we do have a few decent retirement communities. yes its more expensive but not e eryone is trying to minimize costs. and we can still travel. but yes its a tough choice.

I agree with you 100% and I currently live overseas however I believe what keeps most people in the US after retirement is family. Being around your kids and eventually grandkids.
