I would honestly take this a step further (and did) and buy your own isrc code. $95 for a lifetime and you get 100,000 codes a year for free that way if you ever decide to move distributors you own your isrc code and there's no fighting to take your music to another platform. I thought about doing the same thing with the UPC code but I just felt like that was overdoing it. 🤣 but if you're doing everything yourself anyway be truly independent it's literally just one more step and it's super easy! I have it all in a spreadsheet with the ASCAP IPI my publishing IPI isrc with and without dashes song duration release date all in one spreadsheet. I don't feel like there's anything more important than being organized.

Ive seen and disturbing trend among a couple different artists where they posted a teaser of a song that hasn’t come out yet. And someone used AI to create and produce a song around that section and released it before they did. I’m guessing the solution is don’t post teasers? Love your thoughts on this. If I see a video with this is happening. I’ll tag you.

When I upload to Distro I immediately put Social Media / YouTube protection on it - I’ve had videos get claimed by my own music uploaded by someone else until I figured this out.
