Day 251 of reading the Bible in a year 📖✨ Ezekiel 37–39 gives us some of the most powerful imagery in the book of Ezekiel. After chapters of judgment, God shows Ezekiel that destruction is not the end of the story. In Ezekiel 37, Ezekiel is taken to a valley filled with dry bones. The bones represent the house of Israel, who felt completely hopeless and cut off. But God asks Ezekiel: “Son of man, can these bones live?” — Ezekiel 37:3 What looks completely dead to us is not beyond God’s power. God commands Ezekiel to speak, and the bones come together. Breath enters them, and they live again. God then promises: “And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live.” — Ezekiel 37:14 That chapter reminds me that God can bring life into places that look completely hopeless. What appears finished to us is not necessarily finished to God. Ezekiel 38–39 then describes the coming defeat of Gog and the enemies who come against God’s people. God makes it clear that He Himself will defend His name and demonstrate His power. Again and again, the message is: God will be known. These chapters remind me that I don’t have to understand how God is going to work something out before I trust Him. The dry bones couldn’t bring themselves back to life. Israel couldn’t restore itself. God’s people needed God to do what they could not do for themselves. Sometimes we may look at our own lives and see nothing but dry bones—something broken, something lost, something we believe can never be restored. But God specializes in bringing life where we see only death. If God can breathe life into dry bones, we should never assume that our story is over simply because we can’t see a way forward. 🙏🏽❤️ If you’re reading along, what stood out to you most in Ezekiel 37–39? 📖✨ #BibleInAYear #Ezekiel #Ezekiel37 #Ezekiel38 #Ezekiel39
