One day, they hold her still longer than usual. Braid in their hands, hers. The one she'd cradle in her loneliness during the night. Though she did not understand why, it comforted her, it was the only thing that felt familiar. The only thing she felt still tethered her to this world. She feels the pressure.. the pulling.. Then-- Agony. Blinding. For the first time, she screamed. A white-hot pain tore through her body, ripping away the haze that had cocooned her for so long. Flesh beneath it. Warmth, it spread through her being for the first time. Then.. nothing. She had lost something that day. More than flesh.. More than a piece of herself. She has lost a part of her that had always waited for someone else. But for the first time, she was awake. Maybe it was easier this way. ___ Art made by @Rat !! Okay, I think I'm finally starting to understand what you're doing with Raven and Eywawr'fya. At first I thought it was a reincarnation story, but now I don't think that's exactly it. The way I see it, it feels more like 🤓☝🏻 Raven — leaves something behind — that "something" is used to create Eywawr'fya. Not Raven being reborn as Eywawr'fya, but Eywawr'fya being someone new who was born from what remained of Raven. That's why the whole kuru scene stood out to me so much. It almost feels symbolic 🫪🫪 Before, Raven, memories, identity, connections....After, emptiness,pain,a new identity,Eywawr'fya 🫢🫢 Which is also why I think the lines about warmth, familiarity, and longing hit so hard.She doesn't know who Raven is. She doesn't remember Neteyam. She doesn't know what she lost. But it feels like she still carries the absence of something she can't name. 🤓☝🏻 That's what makes me think Eywawr'fya isn't literally Raven anymore, but she was still born from Raven's remains in some way. So when Neteyam sees her, he's not necessarily seeing the woman he lost. He's seeing the face, the echoes, and the traces left behind by someone he loved. 💔 At least that's the theory I've come up with so far.
