100% take also kind of relates to mediatoks dislike of Luffy in a way. They find him simple or basic because he has no internal monologue but in reality it’s much more difficult to illustrate a full character to a reader when you can’t share the characters internal workings

I feel like subtext can still be achieved with blatant writing. Something like FMDM hammers in it’s themes, but there’s still room to “peek under the veil” of what it’s trying to say.

Jacopo does not do this since there is a very fair amount of nuance surrounding what is told to you by him Fata as a whole may not have as much subtext as other media, but claiming it isn't there is just wrong

Huge w for the fata take i genuinely don't personally enjoy vns but I tried fata has my first one and idk how something like this can be pinnacle when the first door is so slow and boring its rumored to be the same for door 2 just glad i dropped it when I did fs overrated.

Subtext isn't everything. Fata is direct because it wants you to feel the pain, not just analyze it. That's why it hits so much harder than most novels.

Nice vid. I also want to add to your perspective on media literacy. Imo a person enjoying a show that isn’t critically acclaimed and finding meaning in it and articulating how it’s well written is far more literate than a person who only watches all the highly praised shows known for their writing and understanding it. Because some ppl now just won’t engage in any conversation abt writing if it isn’t certain highly praised series on mediatok.

I disagree with the 70, it's a gross oversimplification to only judge it by its ending. People like it because it's easy to connect with the characters, who are among the most human on television and because of its universal themes that resonate with viewers. That's what made it successful in the 2000s. I think it's a matter of personal preference whether it's your favorite, but it's definitely among the great series
