Well, amber doesn't really "fade" like other gemstones. It just naturally oxidizes and gets darker over the years. The so called amber acid, or succinate, is basically a plasticizer, since amber is a type of natural polymer. And in contact with oxygen, this plasticizer oxydizes out, even faster under sunlight. But it takes decades for amber to switch from a light yellow to the antique orange we know from our grandmas necklaces.
Actually, the older it gets and the darker it becomes, the more it is sought after. Especially in the arabic region, they will pay big money for naturally aged amber beads.
Certain types of amber can become lighter first, like white bone amber, but switch back to a darker tone after 10-20 years.
All in all, amber can become darker over time. But that doesn't degrade its value.

Unfortunately these are the crystals we want to display because they’re so beautiful! But I’d rather protect their beauty and enjoy them long term so I do what I can to protect & sustain their color.

I wear my kunzite in the day sometimes, I knew it faded but not so quickly. Should I stop wearing it? Does artificial lighting like led fade it too
