The reason they looked in the 50s, is because photography was expensive. People didnt snap pics whenever they felt like it. it was an occasion that they dressed up for.

also in the 50s air travel was considered a luxury and also air travel treated the passengers like a luxury experience like they served caviar and lobster on plans and average seats looked like today’s business class
