@thenattyengineer: This is my own personal experience in the gym starting at 20 years old to now 38. Obviously may not be the same for everyone. #GymTok #gym #Fitness #fitover40 #GymLife
that's fine with me. ..I'd rather be the oldest in the gym than the youngest in the nursing home. 🏋️♂️💪 🏋️♀️💪

At 64 and working out for 40 years, I concur. I used to bench 285. Down to 185. Doing flys with 60 lbs dumbbells. Now 30. No broken bones or body tears.

So true. I’m 59. You have to do a mental re-programming. Your goals should be getting leaner, lifting without injury, gaining incredible strength and functionality, and great cardio health. You may not get the size you want, but any size you are able to achieve is a plus.

59-years old. You have to empty your cup. you look at things differently. You are training for health, not gains in strength. You lift heavy but more for reps, than strength. You take one workout at a time. They say it is 99% mental, and aging is the same. Your goals just change.

42. When you've made going to the gym a part of your lifestyle it's easier to stay consistent

41 and have more size and definition than in my 20s. You learn what works. Diet has to on point 95% of the time though.

At 73, I just find I need more time in-between sets to let the oxygen get back to the muscles. I look damn near as good as I did 20 years ago.

100% accurate, my focus is more cardio and not gaining weight any further than I have. Not necessarily becoming shredded.

Disagree. Im 64 and still getting stronger. Really depends on how you train and what you eat. 1.5 years ago I was using 45lbs each for dumbell press. Im currently using 75lbs.

Nope… although I believe I do have good genetics (if that’s a thing) 13 months from 60yo and in the past 14 months back in the gym I’m doing pretty good IMHO. Tracked from day one until today… I’m a lot bigger😁

Eh, I’m 62 and I think the reward for me has always been to just feel my best. So, same now as when I was 21. I was never interested in being super cut or running a long marathon.
