Not so fun fact: The US didnt drop the atomic on tokyo cuz they were already bombing it and messed the city up.. they wanted a clean slate to see how much damage can really be done by the bombs.. so they chose Hiroshima and Nagasaki. i dont think it mattered anyways considering how catastrophic the damage was. But isnt that great we still have tokyo

Tokyo is not the most populous city in the world (that title currently belongs to Chongqing, with 32 million). Nor is it the most populous metropolitan area (currently Jakarta, with 41 million). However, if you consider the continuous urban area, there is the concept of the Japanese *megalopolis*, which links all the cities along the southern coast of Honshu Island (in that case, the total reaches 80 million inhabitants).
