People always confuse the App Layer with the Kernel Layer. C and C++ are the absolute backbones of almost every single OS here. Java, Swift, and Kotlin are just the velvet curtains hanging on top of a concrete foundation.

tf this list is all wrong, chromeOS is based on gentoo, playstation is based on a version of bsd, mac os too (Darwin), so they’re all written in C and assembly

windows and xbox is based off its own NT kernel playstationos is based off freebsd ios, macos, watchos, tvos is all based off darwin which is based off freebsd. android, chromeos and teslaos are all based on linux. switchos is based off nintendos horizon, which is a mix and match off freebsd and android components, derived from the 3ds
