@opaaladealafiaparish1: History, SPIRITUAL Mysteries, and Core Tenets surrounding Reverend Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, the Prophet-Founder of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Worldwide. Born on May 18, 1909, in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic, to Nigerian parents from Ogun State. His father, Joseph Oshoffa, was a former Muslim who converted to Methodism. Having lost all his previous children, Joseph made a vow to God that if he were blessed with a son, the boy would serve God. He was named Bilewu (from the Yoruba phrase Bi ‘le aiye wu ko gbe, sugbon mo mo wipe mo ti toro re lodo Olorun), meaning: "If the world pleases the child, let him stay, but I know I asked God for him." His surname Oshoffa translates to "The human eye is not an arrow/missile an enemy can fire to make you fall." In fulfillment of his father’s vow, young Samuel was sent to a Methodist mission school. However, after a student revolt against a bishop’s instruction, he was expelled and subsequently took up his father’s trade as an ebony wood carpenter and timber trader. The defining moment of Oshoffa’s life took place on May 23, 1947, during a total solar eclipse. While deep in the dense forests of Benin searching for premium ebony logs, he lost his way. He was stranded in the wilderness for three months, living off the land. During this isolation, he closed his eyes to pray and experienced a profound divine manifestation: The Voice: He heard a distinct voice cry out "LULI," which was revealed to mean "The Grace of Jesus Christ." The Symbolic Animals: When he opened his eyes, he saw three stationary, unnatural creatures: 1. A white, winged monkey with bat-like hands and feet. 2. A brightly colored bird with a yellow beak and a peacock-like tail. 3. A short, puffed-up snake resembling a coiled cobra. (These animals were later interpreted as representations of the deep spiritual hurdles and opposition the church would face in the future. Upon emerging from the forest, Oshoffa was completely transformed, operating under intense gifts of prophecy and divine healing. His very first reported miracle was raising his nephew back to life, which led his sister, Elizabeth, to become his first convert. On this historic day, while fellowshipping with followers, a winged angel bathed in blinding light appeared to Oshoffa. The angel delivered a mandate: "It is the wish of God to send you on an errand of preaching into the world. Many nominal Christians there are who, when confronted by difficulties and problems... run after fetish priests and other powers of darkness... To assist you in your work so that men may listen, miraculous works of Holy divine healing will be carried out by you... The name of the church itself was reportedly given through a divine revelation by a man named Alexander Yanga, who was in a 7-day spiritual trance. The church strictly operates under doctrines believed to have been directly commanded by the Holy Spirit to keep the worship space pure: Members do not wear shoes when clad in their spiritual white garments (Sutana) or within the church premises, acknowledging the ground as holy. The No-Color Policy: Only white candles are permitted for spiritual use; colored candles are strictly forbidden. Strict Dietary & Lifestyle Restrictions: Consumption of alcohol, tobacco/smoking, and pork is strictly prohibited to avoid repelling the presence of the Holy Spirit. Garment Code: Wearing clothes made of black or red materials is generally forbidden for members. Gender Separation: Male and female members sit on separate sides within the sanctuary, and female members must have their heads covered during worship. On September 10, 1985, after surviving a horrific car crash that claimed the lives of the other passengers in the vehicle, Papa Oshoffa passed away seven days later. He was laid to rest at the Celestial City in Imeko, Ogun State, Nigeria, which remains a holy pilgrimage site for millions of Celestians today.
