Unfortunately, endometriosis and adenomyosis remain incredibly underfunded, and there still isn’t enough awareness, despite them being recognised as one of the most painful chronic conditions. Over 570,000 women in the UK are currently waiting for gynaecological care, and those waiting lists are still far too long. Even after diagnosis, there is no clear pathway for treatment, and accessing an experienced endometriosis specialist can be incredibly difficult. These diseases don’t just affect physical health - they have a huge impact on mental wellbeing too. Around 83% of women report symptoms of depression, and 81% experience anxiety. For those who can’t afford to wait, private treatment often comes at a huge financial cost. On top of all of that, so many of us are made to feel like our pain isn’t believed. Being dismissed can delay diagnosis and treatment even further, leaving people to suffer in silence. And just a reminder… there is currently no cure for endometriosis or adenomyosis. 🎗️
